Frequently asked questions
The questions readers actually send us, answered without the corporate hedge.
Editorial and sourcing
How stories are chosen, checked, and labelled.
Where does your information come from?
Peer-reviewed studies, systematic reviews, clinical practice guidelines, and regulator documents, plus interviews with researchers and clinicians. Every article lists its sources with links. If a claim rests on a single small study, the article says so instead of hiding it.
Who reviews the medical content?
Articles are researched and edited by our newsroom against primary sources — studies, guidelines, and regulator documents — with each claim linked to where it came from. When an article has been reviewed by a named clinician or researcher, that review is stated on the page with the reviewer's name and date.
What do the evidence labels mean?
Four levels — strong, moderate, limited, and emerging. They describe how much the underlying research can actually support, not how excited we are about it. The full definitions are in the editorial standards section.
Do you use AI to write articles?
No. Articles are reported and written by named humans, then edited and medically reviewed. We use software for transcription, spell checking, and data work, the same way any newsroom does. Nothing gets published because a model generated it.
How do you handle contradictory studies?
We report the disagreement rather than picking the more clickable side. That means explaining what the trials measured, who they enrolled, how long they ran, and why those choices produce different answers. Sometimes the honest conclusion is that the evidence is not settled yet.
Money and independence
The uncomfortable questions, since they matter most.
How is the site funded?
Display advertising. No sponsored articles, no paid guest posts, no affiliate links inside editorial copy, no supplement brand partnerships. Ads are labelled and sit outside the article body in fixed-size slots.
Can a brand pay to be covered, or to be left out?
No, in both directions. Advertisers buy inventory, not coverage, and they see stories the same time you do. If we ever cover a company that advertises with us, the article says so.
Do you accept guest posts or link insertions?
No. We also don't sell links in existing articles, remove links for a fee, or run collaborations that are advertising with a friendlier name.
Using the site
Practical things — corrections, republishing, your data.
I found an error. What happens now?
Send it to the newsroom with the sentence and the source. Confirmed errors are corrected, dated, and described in a correction note at the bottom of the article. We don't quietly rewrite a claim and pretend it never happened.
Can I republish or quote your articles?
Quote a couple of paragraphs with a link and clear attribution, yes. Republishing a full article needs written permission, and scraping the site to train a model or fill a content farm is not permitted. See the terms.
What data do you collect about me?
Aggregate analytics and whatever you email us directly. No account is required to read anything. Retention periods and deletion requests are covered in the privacy policy, and every cookie is listed in the cookie policy.
Can you tell me whether I should take a supplement?
No, and anyone online who will should worry you. We can tell you what the trials found, how large the effect was, and which questions to bring to your clinician. That is the line, and we hold it — see the medical disclaimer.
